At last a good crime mini-series. “The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair” was a pleasant surprise. Based on Joel Dicker’s bestseller, it tells the story of successful writer Harry Quebert (Patrick Dempsey) through the narrative of his apprentice, young Marcus Goldman (Ben Schnetzer).
A forbidden love, a missing young girl, a small provincial town. It’s not the acting that steals the show, nor the direction. What stands out is the plot of the story, as it unfolds through the pieces of the past. And this is due to the book and its excellent structure. And “The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair” is one of the good book transfers on the small screen. This is not a masterpiece, but both deserve your attention. The book was widely accepted in Europe, but divided the critics in America.
